FIRST CHAPTER MEET AT AIIMS

The first Delhi Chapter Meeting of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM-DC) 2017 was organized by Division of Clinical Microbiology & Molecular Medicine, AIIMS, New Delhi held on 25th March, 2017. The theme of the chapter meet was “Tuberculosis and other Respiratory Infections”. A total of 164 participants registered for the meeting including 29 senior IAMM members, 90 PG members (MD+PhD), 35 participants from AIIMS and 10 from sponsor companies. The Posters (MD/PhD categories) were invited on dedicated email “iamm.aiims@gmail.com” in which 34 candidates applied and all of them called for their poster presentation. All of them made excellent presentation in their respective fields, however, following participants adjudged as award winners in different categories.

The IAMM-DC was inaugurated by : Dr Sunil Khaparde, DDG (TB) as Chief guest and Prof NP Singh, President, IAMM-DC; Prof Sonal Saxena, Secretary, IAMM-DC; Prof. Jaswinder Kaur Oberoi and Prof Sarman Singh Organizing Chairperson of Chapter Meet and immediate past president. After inauguration, following eminent speakers delivered their talks:

The IAMM-DC chapter meet was successfully accomplished its objectives of information dissemination and concluded with certificate distribution by the IAMM office bearers followed by tea.

 

PG ASSEMBLY

The PG assembly was held over a period of three days in July 2017 in Lady Hardinge Medical College and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The theme in Lady Hardinge Medical College was fungal infections. The presentations included

The CME was held on 23rd September at Taj Palace, New Delhi in collaboration with Beckman Coulter's educational series. The various presentations included

 FIRST CHAPTER MEETING AT R & R HOSPITAL

Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM)-Delhi Chapter First Meet 2016 was organized on 23 Apr 2016 at Ayurvigyan Auditorium, Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt-10.

The theme was “challenges in management of immunocompromised host.” The events commenced with the meeting of the Executive Council. This was followed by Poster competition and the quiz competition. The awards given were:

The Chapter meet was inaugurated with lamp lighting by the dignitaries following which Brig (Dr) RM Gupta delivered the welcome address. Dr Sarman Singh, President IAMM-DC then addressed the gathering. Business of the Chapter was then conducted by Dr C Wattal, Secretary IAMM-DC followed by release of the Directory by Dr Sarman Singh and presentation of the Presidential Medal.

 ANNUAL MEET AT IHC

It was held between17-19th November 2016 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The theme of the 8th Annual conference was “Diagnosis of Viral Infections: an Enigma”, in view of the increasing reports of emerging and re-emerging viral infection across the globe. All Clinical Microbiologists of the region showcased their scientific research in the areas of clinical microbiology, immunology and infection control.

The EC also organized a preconference CME on “Newer Challenges in Viral Infections” on 18th  of November 2016 at India Habitat Center (IHC) to bring together experiences of international and national faculty to discuss challenges in viral infections and provide diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines on this topic of importance.

 FIRST CHAPTER MEET AT MAMC

The First Chapter Meet  was organised on 29th March 2014 in Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. The theme of the meet was ‘Drug Resistant Tuberculosis’. The programme of the chapter meet started with the registration starting at 11:30 in the morning. About 200 participants from various institutions of Delhi attended the meeting. The meet was inaugurated by Dr Deepak K. Tempe, the Chief Guest and Dean Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. He also released the souvenir-cum-abstract booklet. Dr Anita Chakravarti, the President IAMM- Delhi Chapter, delivered the welcome address. Dr Chand Wattal, the Secretary IAMM- Delhi Chapter introduced the new organising committee.

SECOND CHAPTER MEET AT MAX HOSPITAL

The second Chapter Meet 2014 was organised on 30th August 2014 at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket, New Delhi. Dr Poonam S Das, Director-Institute of lab Medicine & Transfusion Services was the organizing Chairperson and Dr Bansidhar Tarai, Senior Consultant Microbiology was the Organizing Secretary. The theme of the meet was “Invasive Candidiasis in Indian ICU”.

In morning work shop on infection control was organised which was well attended by about 45 participants across Delhi and North India. Infection control covered various topics like hand hygiene, Various HAI, Engineering & CSSD.

The programme of the chapter meet was started with the registration from 12.00 noon onwards. About 220 participants from various institutions/hospitals of Delhi/NCR attended the meet. Dr. Poonam Das welcomed all the faculty ,delegates and participants. The programme started with lamp lighting by distinguished guests. Dr Chand Wattal, Secretary IAMM DC gave a brief summary of activities of Delhi Chapter of IAMM. Awards given were:

QUARTERLY MEET AT LHMC

The Delhi Chapter Quarterly meet was organized at Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi on 5th December 2009 under the chairpersonship of Dr. Renu Dutta. The theme of the meet was “Antibiotic Policy”. The meet was inaugurated by Dr.G.K. Sharma, Director, LHMC. The meet started with poster session in which 24 posters were displayed.

ANNUAL MEET AT IHC

The 1st Annual conference was held on March 28, 2009 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The conference was organised by Executive body of IAMM Delhi chapter. The conference was preceded by preconference satellite workshops at different centre of excellence of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases in Delhi.

The program on March 28, 2009 started at India Habitat Centre over 300 microbiologists from Delhi and NCR region joined the feast. The program started with poster session. There were two different poster competitions, Sanjay Sardana Memorial award for best poster in the category of immunological diagnosis and techniques and free poster category. Over 40 posters were on display for the delegates to appraise the ongoing scientific research at various institutes in Delhi and NCR region. Sessions included:

  • Postgraduate Teaching in Microbiology Teaching Methods: Dr Rita Sood
  • Scope of Multidisciplinary approach in Clinical Microbiology Teaching: Dr Renu Datta

The conference was concluded on a very positive note with evening cultural program at India Habitat Centre and every member appreciated the efforts made by the executive committee of IAMM Delhi Chapter.

The conference was held on 4th August 2007 at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi  Road, and a pre-conference workshop was also organised at SGRH “Detection of beta-Lactamases in GNB – a practical approach. The theme of the conference was Antimicrobial Resistance with the focus on “Detection of ß Lactamases in GNB – a practical approach” with emphasis on its nosocomial spread.  In the afternoon, IAMM Delhi Chapter (MicroCON) started at 12.30 PM at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi with poster session. Free posters as well as poster for Meghna Kishan Baweja Best Poster award on Paediatric Infectious Diseases were displayed. 18 posters in total were presented

FIRST CHAPTER MEET AT LHMC 1ST Quarterly meet of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologist: Delhi Chapter was organized by Department of Microbiology, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi on 21st April 2018 in Swarna Jayanti Auditorium. Dr Ravinder Kaur , Head & Director Professor ,Department of  Microbiology and Dr Manoj Jais , Director Professor, Department of Microbiology were the Organizing Chairperson and Organzing Secretary  respectively for this meeting. The theme of the chapter meet was “Infection Control & Prevention inside OT: A challenge.”  The event started with an inauguration ceremony where Dr Rajiv Garg, Director LHMC delivered the welcome address and lit the lamp. Other dignitaries on dias namely Dr Ravider Kaur, Dr Manoj Jais, Dr Sanjay Singhal and Dr Sonal Saxena also said a few words in welcoming the participants. This was followed by first  scientific session and  Dr Purabi Barman, Senior Consultant, Department of Clinical Microbiology & Infection Control, BLK Superspecialty  Hospital, New Delhi delivered an interesting and informative talk on “ Environmental control inside OT: Meeting the standards”. There were two other scientific talks delivered by experts on infection control and prevention. Dr Shailesh Mehta, Director, Medovation products gave a lecture on “Sterilization and monitoring of operative instruments in CSSD: A manufacture’s perspective” and Dr G.K. Sharma , Medical Advisor, Scientific affairs and education, Chronic & critical care solution division, 3M India limited delivered a talk on “ SMART ICU Project: An overview” which is basically on surveillance of Hospital acquired infections using a software for better detection of gap areas in bundle approach for prevention of HAIs. The talks were followed by Q & A session.  This meeting served as a platform to clinical microbiologists and experts dealing with sterilization and disinfection in operative rooms, for a face to face interaction to resolve the queries and confusions related to these issues. Poster presentation session and IAMM DC quiz were also been held along with the scientific sessions where participants from various institutions of Delhi NCR took part in good numbers. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks delivered by organizing secretary and a valedictory function where IAMM office bearers presented prizes to the winners of poster presentation and quiz competition. The venue of the meet was Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital. The theme of chapter meet was ““Future Viral Threats: Are We Prepared?”. A total of 130 participants registered for the meeting including senior IAMM members and PG members (MD+PhD). The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Sriniwas who inspired us with his motivating words. After the inauguration and welcome address by Dr. B. L Sherwal (Director, RGSSH) and Dr.N.P.Singh (HOD Microbiology ,UCMS) , the meet started with interesting case presentations by Dr. Renu Gupta (IHBAS) and Dr. Sonali Bhattar (RGSSH).After this our key speaker for the meet , Dr.Rajesh Bhatia enlightened the audience on the topic “Viruses of the future: Role of Microbiologists” followed by engrossing panel discussion on “Viruses on Rampage: Addressing the threats” with   Dr Rajesh Bhatia,   Dr Shobha Broor,   Dr V.K.Gupta and   Dr Suman Kushwaha as panelists representing public health, virology, veterinary sciences and clinical fields respectively ,and  Dr. Ekta Gupta as moderator of the session. The Posters (MD/PhD categories) were invited on dedicated email “midmicrodcon.rgssh@gmail.com” in which 25 candidates applied and all of them called for their poster presentation. All of them made excellent presentation in their respective fields, however, following participants were adjudged as award winners in different categories. Dr. Sriniwas Award for best poster on “Outstanding scientific work in Antibiotic susceptibility testing” was awarded to Dr. Anupam Kumar Anveshi (Safdarjung Hospital) on Topic – “Nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus among Health care workers (HCW):  Antimicrobial susceptibility, virulence profile and risk factors”. Dr Shariqa Qureshi (RGSSH) was adjudged winner for her poster presentation on topic – “Hand hygiene audit: a tool for leveraging hand hygiene compliance and rejuvenating its strategies in a Super Speciality hospital” in the free Poster category. Dr. Rishabh Tomar (Santosh Medical College) and Dr Charu Jain  (ESI,Faridabad) were jointly adjudged runner-up  on topics – “Occurrence of various dengue serotypes in a tertiary care hospital in Ghaziabad” and “Antimicrobial Susceptibility Profile of Salmonella Species in Faridabad, Haryana” respectively. The delegates also enjoyed a nice camaraderie time with scrumptious lunch and took home memories of the chapter meet with innovative Selfie stand put up by the host. The IAMM-DC chapter meet was successfully accomplished and concluded with certificate distribution by the IAMM office bearers followed by tea.
